A Conversation with Santiago Vaquera-Vásquez & Esen Kara

This presentation will look into contemporary Turkish and Latinx literatures in a comparative perspective, with an emphasis on narrative strategies to document catastrophic events and especially the role of theMediterranean as an unofficial archive in the
contemporary Turkish novel and the thematic use of rivers and oceans in Latinx literature as mediums of memory and forgetting.

Memorias from a Border Writer's Notebooks on
Migration: Un Chicano in Türkiye Santiago Vaquera-Vásquez

This presentation--a blend of critical commentary with personal memoir-is a report on border crossing, on the ghosts that we carry, on the stories that we bear and the promise that is handed on in telling them.
