Lorenzo Silva (Madrid, 1966) is a prominent and prolific Spanish novelist, who has obtained some of the most prestigious literary awards for his novels. In 2002, he received the ‘Premio Nadal’ for El alquimista impaciente; in 2012, he was awarded the ‘Premio Planeta’ with La marca del meridiano. Although better known for his detective fiction (with his series on the guardias civiles Bevilacqua and Chamorro), he has published other type of novel, essay, and children literature, as well. A particular interest of him is the Spanish presence in Morocco, a topic explored in historical novels and travel narratives. Several of his novels have been adapted to film. He also writes for important newspapers on contemporary political and cultural issues.
