Cheyenna González-Pilsner wins 2019 MAD Award

Congrats to Cheyenna! Cheyenna González – Pilsner has just won one for the 2019 MAD (Made At Dartmouth) Research prizes in the category “Best visual storytelling” for her short video “Queer Tango. What it Means for all of Us.”  Cheyenna is a Romance language major with plans to go on to study Epidemiology. This term she has worked as a research assistant alongside professor Noelia Cirnigliaro, to help the poroifessor in her research on contemporary expressions of Argentine Tango. In helping Cirnigliaro, Cheyenna became keenly interested in historical and contemporary gender dynamics of this globalized dance, particularly in the context of "Queer Tango". When Cheyenna learned about the Jones Media Center/Undergraduate Research she knew she wanted to funnel that interest into something tangible. If anything, she stated, the video “would allow other people to learn about this newer take on tango that encourages increased gender power equity. The prize was just a bonus to all that was learned in the process of creating the video."
