Day of the Dead Offering

La Casa with the support of Leslie Center and LLC planned a series of activities and workshops around -Latinx month- and November 1st and 2nd "Day of the Dead." The purpose is to provide an opportunity for students and community members to understand and learn about social justice through the Day of  the Dead celebration

This year the ofrendas at Baker Library will be dedicated to commemorate indigenous women and women in general, victims of "feminicidio" the horrific phenomenon of female homicides. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in the Americas.

Another "ofrenda" altar will be set to commemorate the thousands of women and children who have lost their lives when migrating to other lands of hope.

This Fall Term the Day of the Dead celebration, will be a connector for the students to learn about this tradition but also to reflect on femicides and gender-based violence to build bridges of conciliation, celebration, remembrance and social awareness.

We are thrilled to facilitate such workshops at Dartmouth College, given the institution's commitment to diversity, international identity and presence, and openness to global cultures.
